I have to admit that there are not many artist/band logos that have stuck in my mind (in an admiring way, at least) but with the revelation of this new logo celebrating Kylie’s Minogue’s 25 years of contribution to the music industry, I decided to have a little look at how the Pop Queen renowned for her elaborate re-inventiveness, has been branded. First off, I am not that huge a fan of the “25” – though, admittedly, the showgirl theme communicates well – I do find it a bit visually cliched (some may argue that, as a pop artist, Kylie sometimes fits within that category) – buy I love the K-image. The colours are rich and glossy, and the shape is a fantastic elevation of the “K” signature icon that has been used previously – and the style seems to connote both a bold theatricality and a postmodern edginess.
Here’s my pick of some pieces of Kylie typography: different text-based logo that she’s used across her musical career and other media.
